Dr. Andrej Kitanovski

 

Dr. Andrej Kitanovski is an associate professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana.

He has been actively involved in research and development of District Energy systems since the 1998, and is also a founding member and past secretary of the Slovenian District Energy Association.

Since the 2003 he is involved in research in magnetocaloric energy conversion and regard to this won the Swiss Technology Award. He is currently serving as the Vice-President of a Working Party on Magnetic Refrigeration (at Room Temperature) of the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIF-IIR).

In period 2005-2007 he was a Director General of Directorate for Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness at the Ministry of the Economy in Slovenia and member of the High level group and Enterprise Policy Group at the European Commission.

His research domains today are related to heating, cooling (refrigeration) and air-conditioning technologies. These regard the energy production, its storage, transport and utilization. A special focus of his research activities is given to renewable energy sources and alternative, emerging energy conversion technologies.
