Mr. Dan A. Rieser is Deputy Director, Scenarios, at the World Energy Council (WEC).

 

Based in the WEC Secretariat in London, Mr. Rieser coordinates the work of 60 high-level energy executives from the WEC network to build the WEC 2050World Energy Scenarios, one of WEC’s flagship publications. In this role, Mr. Rieser is responsible for integrating the Scenarios output together with other WEC’s strategic studies and works closely with WEC’s Regional Managers to facilitate regional deepening of the Scenarios. Mr. Rieser also looks after the relationship with the Scenarios project partner, the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland, to develop the Scenarios modelling platform and supports the dialogue with WEC’s Patrons and Global Partners to integrate them into the scenarios work. Prior to his work for the World Energy Council, Mr. Rieser worked in academia, as a consultant in the energy field and as an economist for an energy regulatory authority. Mr. Rieser has also gained significant work experience in the energy field when working on energy development projects for the European Union e.g. in the Balkans. In the past, he has also been a task force chair of different task forces with the European energy regulators group ERGEG (now: ACER). Mr. Rieser holds a BA degree in business administration, an MSc degree in Economics, an MSc degree in applied statistics and a PhD degree in economics.
